Step 1:

Alright, to start the carving process you need to have a good place to work. This could be in the kitchen or outside. Either way set up a white sheet of paper over anything you intend to use as a platform. Once this is complete then you may begin.

Step 2:

The actual process of carving the schina marble is entirely up to your artistic skill. You can carve it into whatever you want. Here are some tips though. If you want a smooth clean cut, try rubbing it against something abrasive, such as sandpaper. For small areas that you would like to have intricate designs on, use a small dark-leaded pencil and draw it on there first. Then, using sharp tools (picks, carving tools, etc.......) carve the design on there over the lines you have drawn.
 
Step 3:

Carving sandstone is quite fun, though patience is required. And remember, always draw what your going to do on it first, mainly for accuracy but also because if you screw up, you can't exactly get the stone you just cut off back.

Tips & Warnings
